Dancraft (Another Axis) was the very first Minecraft MMORPG for China, opened in 2012. The server had a stunning map and dozens of new systems, interactions, items and even magic spells coded into the game, with its promo vid hitting 300k views in just a week. It had a complete story for the world of Gloricia, which the player gradually find out is secretly a "second try" creation of Earth by Britha the goddess of Nature and Balance, one that she kept for herself away from all the other gods.
Through a series of quests, players find out that there was an experiment Britha and her brother Kelthos, the god of intellect carried out. They wanted to know that, if given the freedom of thought, an extremely quick flow of time and the ability to multiply. If humans could surpass the intelligence of the gods so Britha and kelthous could use them to surpass godhood. (essentially what we humans are doing with AI right now).
However, that experiment failed with the humans destroying Earth before managing to do so.
During the experiment, Britha could not stop herself from beginning to develop emotions to the creatures of earth. During the last days of earth, she secretly removed a men and women and created a new world within her own dimension, calling it Gloricia. This time, hoping only for peace and comfort.
(Gloricia is where the game and your character is set in)
What she didn't know however, was that her brother Kelthos, knowing that his sister is the only god with the ability to create worlds, managed to sneak into Gloricia as well.
Kelthos seeked power, he knew that if given the peace and comfort they wanted, human would not progress quickly enough. He had to take control so the new people can again begin to develop superior technologies. This time, he invented a fungi that eats away the brain, this not only stops humans from dying of age, but stops the degradation of memory and makes knowledge interchangeable from person to person by simply consuming the brain of the other. This largely increases the accumulation of knowledge but made the people suffer, which was completely against Britha's will. (although she had no idea why this is happening at this point in time)
The player really doesn't find all this out until quite late into the game, where Kelthos, disguised under the name or Raenold, whom you thought was your most trustworthy general, friend of your father (whom he secretly mummified to get you to come to him). Killed Britha so she couldn't stop him from using the new world. For a long period within the game, players were living under the closely logical plan of Kelthos (God of Intellect). The story also contains a lot of time traveling between the war ridden Gloricia controlled by Kelthous and the peaceful version of it. And was widely appreciated within the gaming community. Sadly it was written in chinese, and I don't have time to translate it... Please allow me to tell it to you in person if you are interested.
